Plesk Hosting Server Migration Scheduled for October 2025

The following announcement is intended for customers who have their own custom domain name (ie. www.my-domain-name.com or email@my-domain-name.com) and we are providing website, e-mail, and/or DNS hosting, on our Plesk server(s), for that domain name. If you don’t have your own custom domain name, that we are hosting for you, this announcement doesn’t apply to you. If you do host a domain name with us, please continue reading.
Please pass this announcement along to any relevant parties, including your I.T. department, I.T. support company, and/or Webmaster (Web Page Designer).

Dear Widomaker Hosting Customers,

This is to inform you of a planned Plesk server migration scheduled to take place during the month of October, 2025. We are proactively upgrading our Plesk web and email hosting infrastructure to provide you with enhanced performance, security, and long-term stability.

Our server provider’s migration team will be moving all accounts from our current server running Plesk Obsidian on CentOS 7 to a new, modern server running Plesk Obsidian on AlmaLinux 9.

What You Need to Know

Our goal is to make this transition as seamless as possible with minimal service interruption. The migration process is designed to copy your website files, databases, and email accounts to the new server without requiring any action from most of our customers.

The IP address of the hosting server will change. This is the most significant aspect of the migration. How this affects you depends on how your domain’s DNS is configured:

  • If your domain uses Widomaker’s nameservers (e.g., ns.widomaker.com and ns2.widomaker.com), no action is required from you. We will update the DNS records on our end automatically at the appropriate time.
  • If your domain uses a third-party DNS provider (such as your domain registrar like GoDaddy, Network Solutions, or a service like Cloudflare), you will need to manually update your domain’s DNS records (e.g., A, MX records) to point to the new server IP address.

We will provide the new IP address and a more specific migration schedule in a follow-up notification well in advance of the final switch.

Items Not Transferred Automatically

Due to limitations in the Plesk migration tools, certain items cannot be transferred to the new server. Please review the following and take any necessary action:

  • Webmail Settings & Address Books: These are not transferred. If you use Roundcube Webmail on Plesk, you must export (back up) your Webmail address books before the Plesk Hosting Server Migration (2025) takes place. Once the migration is complete, you may import your backed up address book into Webmail on the new server. If you have customized any other Webmail settings, you should make notes of what you customized, in case you want to customize Webmail on the new server in the same way.
  • Web Statistics & Log Files: These are not transferred. If you want to retain statistics or log files, you should print out any statistics reports, and download any log files to your local computer, before the Plesk Hosting Server Migration (2025) takes place.

What to Expect Next

This is the first of several communications you will receive about this migration. We will keep you informed with regular updates here on our weblog and via email as we progress. Our next notification will include more specific dates and technical details. Updates will be posted here on Widomaker’s Weblog (https://weblog.widomaker.com/) and grouped together, in reverse chronological order, at https://weblog.widomaker.com/tag/plesk-migration-2025/

We appreciate your business and are confident that this infrastructure upgrade will provide a better hosting experience for years to come.

If you have any immediate questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our support team.

Best Regards,
Bob
