Nearing the End of 56K Modem Dialup Service

This announcement is to let you know that Widomaker will soon be ending our legacy 56K modem dialup services (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dial-up_Internet_access).

We recently received notice from our 56K modem carrier that the cost to continue providing this legacy service would be increasing. We reviewed our carrier’s modem logs and found there were zero dialup connections, made by our customers, in the last 30 days. As a result, we decided to discontinue our 56K modem dialup services, instead of increasing prices.

If you are currently on a rate plan that includes the option of connecting to 56K dialup, once the dialup service is discontinued, you will no longer be able to connect to our dialup modems.

Additionally, Widomaker dialup accounts also include one or more email accounts. Once we discontinue dialup services, we will be switching all dialup customers to one of our email-only rate plans. This will allow your Widomaker email accounts to continue to function normally, through any Internet connection, even after the dialup service is discontinued.

If you have been using your dialup account as a backup Internet connection, in the event your primary Internet connection stopped working, you may want to look into other backup Internet connection options. Please contact us so we may offer suggestions based on your specific needs.
