Setting Up Your Widomaker Email in Mozilla Thunderbird

This guide will walk you through configuring your Widomaker email account using the recommended IMAP settings in the Mozilla Thunderbird desktop client for Windows. Note that these instructions apply to customers using a widomaker.com (or tni.net) email address.

Before You Begin

Thunderbird

Please have the following ready:

  • Your full Widomaker email address (e.g., `username@widomaker.com`).
  • Your email password.
  • Mozilla Thunderbird installed on your computer. If you don’t have it, you can download it from the official website.

Step-by-Step Configuration

  1. Launch Thunderbird & Start Setup

Open Thunderbird. If this is your first time, you will be prompted to set up an account. Otherwise, click the Application Menu (☰) in the top-right corner, select + New, and then Existing Mail Account….

  2. Enter Your Details

In the “Set up an Existing Email Account” window, fill in the following fields:

    • Your full name: This is the name people will see when you send them an email.
    • Email address: Your full Widomaker email address (e.g., `username@widomaker.com`).
    • Password: Your email password.

    Click Continue.

  3. Review Automatic Settings

Thunderbird will now try to automatically find the correct server settings. In most cases, it will be successful. Please compare the settings it found with the correct settings shown below:

    INCOMING (IMAP)

    Server mail.widomaker.com
    Port 993
    Security SSL/TLS

    OUTGOING (SMTP)

    Server smtp.widomaker.com
    Port 465
    Security SSL/TLS

If the settings match, click the Done button. Your setup is complete! You can skip the next step.

If the settings DO NOT match, or if Thunderbird says it failed to find them, please proceed to the next step.

  4. Manual Configuration (If Necessary)

If the automatic setup failed, click the Configure manually button at the bottom of the window. Enter or correct the settings to match the tables from the previous step exactly. Ensure the Authentication method for both Incoming and Outgoing is set to `Normal password` and the Username is your full email address.

After confirming all settings are correct, click the Re-test button. Once verified, the Done button will become available. Click it to finish.

  5. Account Created

Your Widomaker account is now added to Thunderbird! Your email folders will appear in the left-hand pane, and your messages will begin to download and sync.

Important Notes & Troubleshooting

About IMAP vs. POP3

This guide uses IMAP, which is the recommended protocol. IMAP syncs your email with our server, allowing you to access the same folders and messages consistently across multiple devices (like your computer, phone, and tablet). While POP3 is an older protocol that downloads emails to a single device, its use is generally not recommended and is outside the scope of this article.

Using a @tni.net alias? The setup instructions are identical. Use your full `@tni.net` email address as the username and in the email address field, but use the same `mail.widomaker.com` and `smtp.widomaker.com` server names.

Having Trouble?

  • Check your password: The most common issue is a mistyped password. Please double-check it carefully.
  • Check your username: Ensure you are using your full email address as the username for both incoming and outgoing servers.
  • Still not working? For further assistance, please visit the Widomaker Support Page.
  • For issues specific to the Thunderbird application, you can consult the official Thunderbird Support Documentation.
