Outage Notification

{Resolved] Storm Related DSL Outage in the Governor’s Land/Two Rivers Area of Williamsburg

The telephone company has confirmed that there is a DSL outage in the areas along Route 5 by Governor’s Land, Two Rivers, and Chickahominy Riverfront Park, in Williamsburg, VA. The outage began on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 12:42PM ET, when the recent strong storm passed over the area, causing downed trees and power outages.

The telephone company is currently working to resolve the matter, and will update us as soon as they have completed repairs. At this time the telephone company has not provided an ETR (estimated time of repair).

Update 6:55PM ET:
Customers have been able to connect again beginning around 6:24PM ET.

[Resolved] DSL Outage in Kingsmill and Busch Corporate Center Area on 2/6

As of, 2/6/2014, there is a Verizon outage affecting the telephone company DSLAM or Remote Terminal equipment that services DSL connections in the Busch Corporate Center and Kingsmill areas of Williamsburg, VA. Verizon is aware of the issue and is working to get it resolved. Verizon hasn’t provided an ETR (Estimated Time of Repair) at this time.

Update 2/7/2014 1:00PM:
Customers began connecting again around 8:00AM. Per Verizon, the outage has just been cleared. They’ve advised to have end users powercycle their modem and re-test the connection. Customers who still have trouble should contact us immediately.

[Resolved] Mail & Web Server Maintenance 12/28/2013

As of 3:55PM ET, on 12/28/2013, Widomaker is performing emergency maintenance and repairs on one of our servers. While this maintenance is going on, some services may be occasionally unavailable.

The services that may be affected are…

  • Incoming and outgoing mail service for widomaker.com e-mail accounts (mail.widomaker.com and smtp.widomaker.com).
  • Widomaker’s web page (www.widomaker.com and home.widomaker.com)

We are working on repairs as quickly as possible and hope to have these services restored soon.

[resolved] DSL Outage, Wmbg & Newport News Area, 1/19/2013

Beginning just before noon on, Saturday, January 19, 2013, some broadband aDSL customers in the Williamsburg, Newport News, and surrounding areas started experiencing trouble getting connected or surfing. The telephone company is aware of the problem and is working on it now. At this time there is no ETR (estimated time of repair). Once we get an update from the telephone company we will pass it along here. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Update Saturday, 1/19/2013, 12:30 PM: Most affected customers have reported that their service began working again around 12:30pm. However, as the phone company continues their work, there may be periods that service stops working. Once the phone company reports that all repairs are completed we will update this message.

If you were affected, but your service is still not working again, please reboot your equipment by turning off (or unplugging the power to), and turning back on, your DSL modem as well as your router (if you have one). Once the equipment reboots, which usually takes about 2 minutes, restart your computer and check your Internet connection.

After rebooting your DSL modem and router and waiting about 2 minutes, if you still cannot connect, please contact us with your name, telephone number, and acct# (if you know it). Please provide the status of the lights on your DSL modem. Let us know which lights are lit up solid and which lights (if any) are out, or blinking. Be sure to leave your equipment connected and turned on.

Update Sunday, 1/20/2013 5:12 PM: Most customers continue to be working, however, Verizon is still working on the cause of the problem and interruptions may still occur. Per Verizon, they are waiting on a replacement card to resolve the issue. Still no ETR at this time.

Update Monday, 1/21/2013: Verizon reports that repairs are complete.

[Fixed] Intermittent DSL issue on 8/17/2012

As of the morning of, Friday, August, 17th 2012, there is a known issue effecting aDSL customers in the area. Effected customers may experience intermittent connectivity.

We have reported the problem to the telephone company and Network technicians are working on the problem now. We hope it will be resolved quickly.

Update 10:46am: The phone company has reported that, after replacing some equipment, the problem has been resolved around 9:00am.

[Fixed] Queenslake DSL Outage (03-28-2012)

Some DSL customers in the Queenslake area of Williamsburg, VA, area began to experience an outage starting around 7:00 AM today (03-28-2012). We have reported this outage to the phone company and are working with them to resolve the problem as soon as possible. At this time they have not provided an ETR (Estimated Time of Repair/Resolution). We will keep this page and our telephone system message updated with details and updates as we receive them. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Update: 7:55 AM:
The phone company has confirmed the outage and are working on a resolution.  No ETA as of yet.

All services restored.
