[Fixed] Phone Outage affecting DSL in 757 Area Code 9/19/11

Please note, DSL customers in the 757 area may be having trouble getting connected to the internet. The common error message is 678 or if you have a router, simply the page cannot be displayed yet your modem will show it’s synched. We are aware of the problem and working with the Phone Company as this issue resides on their network, to resolve this as quick as possible, so please keep trying until this problem is resolved.

9/19/11 11:30 pm:  No ETR as of yet. Have been told that Phone Technicians are working the trouble.
9/20/11 7:30 am:  No ETR as of yet. Added status on support line (757-253-7621, option 2).
9/20/11 3:00 pm:  We are still expecting an update from the phone company, shortly.  However, some customers have reported that their service started working again just before 3:00 pm.  You may need to power cycle your DSL modem and router equipment in order to reconnect.  We will provide another update once we hear more from the phone company.
9/20/11 6:00 pm:  The phone company reports that the outage has now cleared.

8/9/11 9:00a: No ETR as of yet. Have been told that Phone Technicians are working the trouble.

8/9/11 11:50a: Verizon has a fiber cable cut in the 757 area code. Cable is being restored, but still no ETR.

8/9/11 6:20p: NOW WORKING – Verizon has repaired the fiber cable cut.

[Fixed] DSL Outage in Williamsburg 8/3/11

There is a known outage in the Williamsburg area near Centerville and Longhill Road. This outage is caused by a fiber cut at that location. The fiber repair should be restored before noon on Thurs. We will keep this post and support lines updated.

7/26/11 7:00p: No ETR as of yet. Have been told that Network Engineers are working the trouble.

7/27/11 1:22p: The phone company has found the faulty equipment is working to repair/replace it.  We do not have an ETR yet, but will keep this post and the voice system up-to-date with any information we get as we get it.

7/27/11 4:00p: Outage looks to be cleared.

Trouble getting Widomaker email?

If your email program keeps prompting you for your username and password, or you get a failure notice. Be sure that your POP3 Username is just the first part of your email address.

EXAMPLE:
Email: johndoe@widomaker.com or johndoe@tni.net
Account Name/Username: johndoe (Be sure to drop the @widomaker.com/@tni.net)

-Outlook Express: Tools/Accounts/Mail Tab/Properties/Servers Tab (Check Account Name)

-Outlook: Tools/E-Mail Accounts/View or Change existing email account/Next/Change (Check User Name)

-Eudora: Tools/Options/Getting Started (Check Login Name)

-Thunderbird: Tools/Account Settings/Server Settings (Check User Name)

[FIXED] DSL Outage (WMBG/NN)

Please note, some DSL customers in the Wmbg/NN areas may be having trouble getting connected to the internet. The common error message is 679 or if you have a router, simply the page cannot be displayed yet your modem will show it’s synched. We are aware of the problem and working with the Network Engineers to resolve this as quick as possible, so please keep trying until this problem is resolved.

3/7/11 1:00a: No ETR as of yet. Have been told that Network Engineers are working the trouble.

3/7/11 12:00p: It was discovered that the phone company network was unable to pass traffic to our customers due to a lack of IP connections.  More connections are being added and hope to have all systems running in the next 1 – 2 hours.

3/7/11 2:40p: Service is restored.  Customers will need to turn off their DSL Modems/Routers by removing the power cord (black round cord) or if they have a switch, turn it off.  Count to 10 very slowly.  Then plug in or switch on and give the devices 2 – 3 minutes to power cycle up.  After this you should be able to surf the internet normally.

[FIXED] DSL and Mail Connection Issues

As of roughly 7am this morning, many customers may experience troubles trying to connect to the DSL Service.  Those who were already connected, may experience issues connecting to mail servers.  Technicians are aware of the issue and are working to restore service as quickly as possible.

Services were restored as of 10:15am.

[FIXED] DSL Outage (WMBG/NN/Norfolk)

Please note, some DSL customers in the Wmbg/NN/Norfolk areas may be having trouble getting connected to the internet. The common error message is 738 “The server did not assign an address”. We are aware of the problem and working with the Network Engineers to resolve this as quick as possible, In most cases, the connection will get establish after a few attempts So please keep trying until this problem is resolved.

11/1/10 11:25a: No ETR as of yet. Have been told that Network Engineers are working the trouble.

11/1/10 2:08p: Possible Hardware failure in phone company network. As soon as we get an update with will let you know.

11/1/10 6:30p: No new information. Phone company ticket is still being worked in the Norfolk area.

11/2/10 7:05a: Phone company worked through the night and problem is still not resolved. At this time there is still no ETR.

11/2/10 2:30p: Problem has now been escalated to the Verizon IPNOC who run the routers and is currently working with them on the issue.

11/2/10 7:00p: Verizon has located the failing hardware that has been causing DSL customers from logging on to the internet. We have been told that they will attempt to migrate all customers to backup equipment while the failing hardware is fixed. Based on the size of this outage, this migration will take some time. Verizon has not provided an ETR of completion. Widomaker does have technicians available to assist with this migration. As this problem is out of Widomaker’s control, we are doing everything we can to get this problem resolved as quickly as possible.

11/3/10 1:00p: Service is restored. If you are still having problems, be sure to turn your DSL modem and/or Router of for 10sec and then turn them back on. Also rebooting your computer will help.

[Fixed] DSL Outage – WMBG/NN/Hampton

[12:01pm] Some users may be seeing slow internet speeds or not able to surf at all. The phone company is aware of this problem and are working to get it fixed as quick as possible. At this time there is no ETR. We will keep everyone posted once we get more info.

[1:57pm] Service was restored!
